2.44pm A few parallels with Christchurch 2020, but there's one important difference here. India in that Test match lost one of their three fast bowlers (Shami) who got injured while batting, and was only able to bowl one short spell. I always thought, for that reason, that the margin of New Zealand's win there flattered them somewhat. Now all of India's bowlers are fit to bowl.

Vikas: "Now Indians are googling weather forecast in Southampton."

Michael: "Paranoid and still traumatized Blackcaps fan here. What if India simply refuses to bowl many overs? Who will be brave enough to tell the to speed up. Has never been a bigger incentive to play for a draw? Oh and how is the weather forecast?" -- The weather's fine, and since it's the final day, I assume they'll play until the overs get bowled, unless the weather intervenes.

Dev: "Same issues for India again, opposition's lower order scoring plenty, Indian lower order folding quickly."

2.38pm New Zealand need 139 in a minimum of 53 overs. What a finish to this World Test Championship. New Zealand have bowled magnificently today, but India have managed to eke out enough through a series of small contributions to make sure they're still in this game. Southee finishes with four wickets, but the pick of New Zealand's bowling today, the man who set the tone in the morning, has been Kyle Jamieson.

Southee to Bumrah, OUT, gone, Southee finishes it off in classic fashion. Full, angling in towards off stump and snaking away late, just before it pitches. Bumrah plays for the angle, looking to defend into the on side, and gets opened up and edges to second slip, where Latham takes it in front of his chest while falling to his left

JJ Bumrah c Latham b Southee 0 (6m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Southee to Bumrah, no run, full, angling in towards off stump, defended to cover point off the front foot, with an open face
72.4

Southee to Bumrah, no run, length ball fairly wide of off stump, left alone with an elaborate, circular follow-through

Southee to Bumrah, no run, if he plays like this, he could. Full, angling in towards off stump, and that's a proper stride out to the ball, head right over it, to block it back to the bowler

India's lead is 138. Can Bumrah help Ishant extend it past 150?

Southee to Mohammed Shami, OUT, and the ball drops straight into that fielder's hands. Full, a bit of swing away from off stump, and Shami's attempted slog over mid-on ends up as a thick edge that balloons straight to that fly slip. Positioned to perfection, he barely had to move there

Mohammed Shami c Latham b Southee 13 (20m 10b 3x4 0x6) SR: 130.00

Fly slip in place now, three-fourths of the way to the boundary. Almost a fine third man

Southee to Mohammed Shami, FOUR, full outside off, and Shami lofts it elegantly over extra-cover edges thickly over the slip cordon in an attempt to loft it over extra-cover

Boult to I Sharma, no run, full, close to off stump, driven firmly back down the pitch and the bowler half-stops it with his left hand, deflecting it towards mid-off

No short leg in place, and now leg gully moves back to deep backward square leg.

Boult to I Sharma, no run, short, at the rib cage, fended away awkwardly into the square leg region
71.4

Boult to I Sharma, no run, full, slanting away and finishing extremely wide of off stump. Ishant takes a massive step forward and across and reaches a massive distance away from his body to drive, and fails to connect. Could have been called a wide on another day

Boult to Mohammed Shami, 1 run, back of a length, angling away from off stump, opens his bat face and steers it to the left of cover point
71.2

Boult to Mohammed Shami, no run, leg-stump near yorker, Shami gets his front leg just about out of the way and squeezes this to short midwicket

Boult to I Sharma, 1 run, back of a length, straightens towards leg stump, tucked away to long leg

For whatever reason - sun was out, and maybe some tiredness from the bowler - the ball barely swung in that last Southee over. Boult is back over the wicket now.

Southee to Mohammed Shami, no run, full now, angling into middle stump, clipped to midwicket
70.5

Southee to Mohammed Shami, FOUR, wow. The square cut is followed by a pull now. Short ball angling into the body, and Shami steps back and across to get square-on to the ball, and swivels to pull into the big gap to the right of deep square leg, who's well in front of square
70.4

Southee to Mohammed Shami, no run, full, angling into off stump from wide of the crease, presses forward and blocks it back to the bowler
